Girls Tennis Team
Wins First Match in School History!!:
What a year of firsts for our Athletics at Westwood as our Girls Tennis
Team joins the party with their first ever win in school history. The Lady
Redhawks defeated Lower Richland last Tuesday 4-3 as Caroline Stewart, Taylor
Bronson, and Rebekah Holliman all recorded singles victories and Caroline
Stewart along with Taylor Bronson won the decisive doubles match. GO REDHAWKS!!
The Lady Redhawks match vs Keenan was cancelled last week.
They will face off against AC Flora on Monday at 4pm.
Volleyball Takes Down
Top Ten AC Flora:
Our Lady Redhawks picked up two huge wins in region play
last week by spanking Lower Richland at home and then going on the road to
defeat top ten region foe AC Flora. The Lady Redhawks are now back in the thick
of the playoff race with a 3-2 region record as they prepare to travel to River
Bluff on Tuesday and then face off against the top region team Chapin at home
on Thursday. We need a huge crowd on Thursday to come out and support these
ladies! Go Redhawks!!
Cross Country (Lewis
Leads Boys Again while Howe and Hancock Lead Girls):
The Westwood Cross Country Teams competed at
Sesquicentennial Park last week vs RNE and Ridge View. Ereck Lewis continued
his dominance winning the Boys race with a time of 17:53. On the Girls side, it
was Emma Howe coming in 4th with 8th grader Madison
Hancock coming in right behind her at the 5th spot.
Football: Redhawks
Win First Ever Home Game over Ridge View!!
Our Redhawk Football team notched the school’s
first ever home victory this past Friday by running away from Ridge View with a
score of 32-14. Brandon Howard kicked two field goals to go along with two
receiving touchdowns from Adonis Lee to help pour on the rout of the Blazers.
This win will hopefully propel our guys into region play which starts this week
at Chapin. GO REDHAWKS!
