Student Activities News

There are a lot of activities coming up that you need to be aware of:
1.  VOLLEYBALL INTRAMURALS are scheduled to begin next week.  We still need 2 more teams to make the tournament happen.  Applications are available outside of student activities.  Games will be played on Tuesday and Thursdays during lunch in the gym.  Please note - if we do not get enough teams to hold the volleyball intramurals, we will NOT HAVE basketball intramurals this spring.
2.  MR. WESTWOOD applications are also available outside of student activities.  Any young man in grades 9 - 12 can enter and win!  You will compete in "sports" wear, talent (real or wishful) and formal wear.  Deadline to turn in these applications is January 28.  Don't delay!
3.  Coming Home week is the week of January 21 - 24.  The theme is "Blast to the Past- Back to the 90's"
Monday is a holiday, but the rest of the week you need to show your Redhawk spirit!
Tuesday, Jan 21, "Men in Black" Wear all black
Wednesday, Jan 22:  "Kriss Kross Jump!"  Wear your clothes backwards
Thursday, Jan 23:  "Fresh Kids of Westwood"  Wear you 90's attire
Friday, Jan. 24:  "Remember the Redhawks"  Wear you red and black/
Pep Rally Friday afternoon!

4.  SENIORS ONLY:
  1.  A representative from Herff Jones will be on campus Tuesday, Jan 21 to take graduation orders.  THIS IS THEIR FOURTH AND FINAL VISIT to Westwood before the price increases!  Don't delay!  Order you supplies before the price goes up!
2.  Cap & Gown pictures are set for Tuesday, February 4.  Mrs. Brebner will be sending out more information as the time approaches
5.  JUNIORS AND SENIORS
Prom is approaching!  The date is March 22.  Tickets are $55 the month of January and go up $10 each month.  Seniors who attended last year go for FREE!  If you are planning to bring a non-Westwood student as your guest, please pick up the "date-request" form located outside of student activities.  This form needs to be completed and turned in BEFORE you buy the ticket for your date.
6.  UNDERCLASSMEN
Time to elect officers and members for student government for the 2014-15 school year will be coming up soon.  We need new members in student government so we will have fresh ideas that represent the entire school.  What is your role at Westwood?  We need your voice to be heard and student government is an excellent way to get this done!  Stay tuned for more information about STUDENT BODY PRESIDENT elections as well as GRADE LEVEL elections.  Elections will be held in March and April!
