Sports Medicine Students at Williams-Brice Stadium
Westwood Sports Medicine students were invited to tour the Sports Medicine facilities at Williams-Brice Stadium as part of an exploration of the differences in medical care available to athletes at various levels of competition. Students were able to explore a wide range of equipment and technology available to Athletic Trainers in a large NCAA Division-I institution, and heard from Gamecocks Head Football Athletic Trainer Clint Haggard and Assistant Athletic Trainer Nathan Peck about their daily responsibilities in providing medical care to the Gamecocks Football Team. Athletic Training Education Program Director Jim Mensch also spoke with students in the team meeting room about the wide range of opportunities available to them as part of the Bachelors and Masters degree programs available through the university.
